What cryptocurrencies does YesPlay accept?

YesPlay is a well-known platform for sports betting, lotteries, and online gaming in South Africa. With a consistent focus on providing secure and straightforward options for its users, YesPlay offers a variety of deposit and withdrawal methods that are well-suited to the needs and preferences of its customers. But you might be wondering if they accept cryptocurrencies. Well, those are one of the most popular transaction methods lately. Still, they havenโ€™t reached the exact same popularity as the traditional payment options. Letโ€™s see if theyโ€™re accepted at YesPlay and how you can top up your account.

How do cryptocurrencies work?

Cryptocurrencies are decentralized. This means they are not controlled by a central authority like a bank or government. Instead, they rely on a network of computers that validate and record the transactions.

And this relies on blockchain technology which records the transaction and links them together so that they can be safe and secure. An added safety layer is the cryptography that secures the transactions and the coins themselves.

Some of the most popular cryptocurrencies are:

  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Litecoin (LTC)

Cryptocurrencies, for many, are an appealing alternative to traditional banking systems. This has certainly reached the gaming industry, too, and some betting and gaming sites have integrated crypto.

Cryptocurrencies at YesPlay

YesPlay does not accept cryptocurrency. The regulations in South Africa arenโ€™t exactly clear when it comes to crypto. These coins donโ€™t have the same legal status as traditional forms of currency in South Africa. So, you cannot use them to make payments to and from YesPlay.

There are, though, many more options you can use, like:

  • Ozow
  • Bank account
  • Debit and credit card
  • Vouchers, like OTT, Blu vouchers
  • E-wallets
  • Electronic funds transfer (EFT)
  • ATM deposits and withdrawals

How to deposit on YesPlay?

Well, even though you cannot deposit through cryptocurrencies, we saw that there are many more options available. Letโ€™s see how to use them.

First, youโ€™ll need to login to your account, of course. From there you can open the โ€˜My Walletโ€™ menu where youโ€™ll see a separate window for deposits. Go there and pick your preferred transaction method. Afterwards you can easily see what are the different steps for all kinds of payment options. For instance, if youโ€™re using vouchers, youโ€™ll need to enter their PIN. If youโ€™re using OZOW, youโ€™ll need to connect your YesPlay account to your OZOW account. For debit and credit cards you have to input the card number. Whereas for bank deposits you have to enter your bank account number.

Most of the deposit methods for YesPlay come with additional levels of security and youโ€™ll need to verify and confirm them.

Keep in mind the applicable minimum and maximum amount limits. For instance, youโ€™ll have to deposit at least R20 with most payment methods, whereas for Capitec you have to top up with at least R100. For FNB this amount is R110.

Finally, all transactions are in South African rands. This is the only accepted currency here. So, thatโ€™s one more reason why YesPlay doesnโ€™t support cryptocurrencies. And even if you donโ€™t have that newer payment method, there are many other options to top up your account. You can easily transfer money to your betting wallet with any of them and they will be credited instantly or almost instantly.
